Updating Aadhaar details is a process that always seems to perpetually fall to “next Monday” and one that everyone dreads-others include long queues and profuse papers, and the doubt if, after hours of waiting in line, being one turn away from closing of the office.
However, all this may soon be obliterated: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) plans to introduce an all-new feature for digital self-update in the official app, which would allow users to update their mobile number and residential address without stepping out of their houses.
If things work as planned, it will certainly become one paramount convenience-upgrade the Aadhaar technology has experienced in many years.
Here's what is up and going.
🧭 The Change
So far, major changes to any Aadhaar details like mobile number or address would require a mandatory visit to its Enrolment Centre. Given the degrees of verification anticipated, this has been the recent norm that shall not be disregarded.
Nevertheless,it is a very difficult thing from the senior citizen, disabled, and people living in remote locations as they have little access to Aadhaar centers.
To make the situation better, the body is making possible for secure digital verification on your smartphone so that individual physical visits are not required.
🆕What UIDAI Has Announced
UIDAI shared this through its X posts (hit agog Twittart) stating that Aadhaar service subscribers will soon be able to make digital-authentication-based corrections to update their addresses and mobile phone numbers through the Aadhaar app entry.
Giving the directive for the whole program:
"So, change your address sitting at home! Then, you don't have to go and stand in queues at Aadhaar centers. The rollout is soon."
Initially, UIDAI had announced a similar self-update feature wherein a mobile number was linked via OTP confirmation and face verification for secure purposes.
🛡️ How Does the New Aadhaar Self-Update System Work
A two-factor verification method will be introduced in the application to provide for increased safety and ease.

All this needs to be done digitally; you don't have to go to any Enrollme!nt Centre.
📱 What All Users Need To Do
1. Just open the Aadhaar app and:
2. Enter your Aadhaar number
3. Choose your preferred language
4. Verify the OTP
5. Complete the face authentication
6. Create a security PIN comprising six digits to lock your Aadhaar profile
According to UIDAI, the new system is designed simply, quickly, and securely; thus, it becomes very user-friendly yet secure.
